Willys-Overland was an American automobile company that played a significant role in the development of the automotive industry in the early 20th century. The company was founded in 1908 when John North Willys bought the Overland Automotive Division of Standard Wheel Company. Initially, Willys-Overland produced a variety of vehicles, including passenger cars and trucks. Willys-Overland is most famous for producing the Jeep during World War II. After the war, Willys-Overland introduced the civilian version of the Jeep, known as the CJ (Civilian Jeep). This vehicle helped to establish the Jeep brand as a staple in the consumer market.
