Happy Christmas and Merry New Year! “Merry New Year” is a quote by character Billy Ray Valentine in the movie Trading Places. The film revolves around Louis Winthorpe III (Dan Aykroyd), a wealthy commodities broker, and Billy Ray Valentine (Eddie Murphy), a street-smart con artist. The two men become the unwitting subjects of a bet between two wealthy and powerful brothers, Randolph and Mortimer Duke (played by Ralph Bellamy and Don Ameche).
