This victory makes Trump the second president in U.S. history to serve non-consecutive terms, following Grover Cleveland.

On January 10, 2025, President-elect Donald Trump was sentenced to an unconditional discharge following his conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments made during the 2016 election. This sentencing means he will not face imprisonment, fines, or probation, but he retains the status of a convicted felon. Despite this, the conviction makes him the first U.S. president to serve while being a convicted felon.
